I often hear people say that they have made a photograph of something, but a native speaker would say they had taken a photograph.
We 'take' a photograph, not 'make' a photograph.
When we 'take' a photograph we are taking a picture of something that already exists.
When we 'make' something we are creating it from scratch, for example we:
make a cake
make dinner
make a sculpture
make a cup of tea
When we 'take' a photograph we want to capture a flower, a person, a mountain etc.
These things already exist.
We can see it and so we take a photograph of it to capture the moment.
